Plants That Purify The Air
In order to have the most efficient heating and air conditioning system you will want to make sure that you have gone through your home and sealed up any cracks or openings in your home. This makes sure that all of the heating and air conditioning doesn’t go out of your home. The only problem with sealing up your home so tightly is that the air has the tendency to get stale.
You could install an expensive air purifying system that will help to purify and circulate the air in the home. There are other options as well such as keeping certain plants in the home. These plants will actually purify the air while also adding beauty and warmth to your home. All plants consume carbon-dioxide and produce fresh oxygen so the more plants that you keep indoors the fresher your air will be.
NASA faced a similar problem as they deal a lot with tightly sealed environments and they began experimenting with different plants and found that some plants such as the spider plant can efficiently clean the air. These plants also remove VOCs (volatile organic compounds) from the air. These gases can generally come from paints, sealants, glues and much more.
You can often find spider plants at any plant shop and they are inexpensive and easy to take care of. Other plants that also do a good job at purifying the air are snake plants and peace lilies. These plants are capable of removing benzene, formaldehyde, carbon-dioxide, carbon-monoxide and many more harmful chemicals from the air.
If you are not able to find the plants mentioned above there are also several other alternatives. You may also choose to have a variety of different kinds of plants in your home. Some of the other plants that are helpful are aloe vera, boston ferns, english ivy, and several kinds of palm. These will help to make sure that your air is clean but they also beautify your home.
When you go to your local garden shop they can help you to find other varieties as well that will help to cleanse your air. Make sure that you don’t purchase something that regularly drops leaves or has an odor that you do not find pleasant. Some plants can also be unsafe if small children or pets eat them. In that case, make sure that you keep those plants out of their reach.
